The Mayan Temples in Uxmal, Mexico inspired this textured square sweater. The buildings have settled with time and the stones have weathered – which led me to make the squares uneven sizes and using a heathered yarn. The motifs come from the façade as shown in the photo and from the hall of birds which is one of the famous buildings on the site. The neckline incorporates the stepped squares you can see in the middle left side of the photo and the sleeves are knit as part of the body, then both sides are joined by knitting together the front and back with a saddle shoulder in the same squares. All of this to mimic the stone block construction of much of the ancient buildings. Enjoy!
