V Formation Socks LITE
There’s also a DK-weight version of this pattern available in my shop: https://ravel.me/v-formation-socks-dk.
This LITE version includes a pdf with a discount code for the DK version!
The V-Formation Socks Lite are ankle socks knit in the round from the toe up using fingering-weight yarn. This design features a repeating arrow lace design on the top of the foot (similar to the V-Formation Canada geese fly in when they migrate South for the winter, hence the name) that is charted and written.
These socks have a Turkish heel (which has a heel flap and turn but no gusset), and instructions for either a simple ribbed cuff, or a double-thick picot-edge cuff.
SIZES
Extra-Small (Small, Medium, Large, Extra-Large)/XS (S, M, L, XL) to fit foot circumference 6” (7”, 8”, 9”, 10”)/15 cm (18 cm, 20.5 cm, 23 cm, 25.5 cm), measured around the ball of the foot (the widest part). The length and height are adjustable. If you find that you are in-between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your socks to fit snug or the larger size if you like a loose fit.
YARN
Approximately 160 (200, 240, 280, 320) yards/146 (183, 220, 256, 292) meters fingering weight yarn, recommended in a blend of wool (for warmth) and nylon (for added strength and durability)
Sample shown in Bramble Ridge Sock High Twist 85/15 (393 yards/360 meters, 100 grams/3.53 oz) in the colourway Squall.
NEEDLES
US 1/2.25 mm needles (36” or longer circular for magic loop, DPNs, 9” circular, depending on which sock knitting method you like best), or needle size needed to obtain gauge
GAUGE
32 sts and 44 rows over 4”/10cm in stockinette knit in the round, after blocking
This pattern has been fully test knit by knitters with a wide variety of experience.
