I originally made this design with my knitting machine because I needed a display piece made with the new yarn I had just received. I had no idea some many ladies like the design and wanted a copy. So… here it is. It has a nice fit because of the rib design with a unique decrease at the neck edge. Since it is so stretchy because of the ribbing that 1 size can fit to body sizes.
It is knitted flat on straight needles, although if you like using circular, they work just as nice. The needles are the only materials needed other than a tapestry needle to sew the front and back together. It goes rather quickly because it has only a front and a back. No sleeves, Button Bands or special knitting tricks.
The bottom edge can be made two different ways. I did a 2x2 rib border and made the 2x6 rib of the top line up. However you don’t have to put the rib on the bottom. I did the back without the 2x2 rib just to see how it looks.
The last picture on the roll up does not show a 2x2 rib.
The yardage amount may be a little different with different yarn companies as well as your knitting style. Everyone knits a little different which means the top may be a little smaller or larger than mine. As long as the length of the body and arm holes are close, it will fit.
I do not know which Red Heart, Caron or Bernet yarns would work best. I do not carry those brands in my shop. If you are unable to find Berroco or Plymouth in our neighborhood, Look for a 100% Soft Cotton or Cotton/Acrylic Blend DK Weight Yarn in your area.
