The Va et Viens Hat and Cowl is not a complicated colorwork project – the longest float is only 3 stiches and you only ever use 2 colors at one time. The stripes are perfect to use up scraps as you only need 6g of each color for the hat and 7g for the cowl! You could also use sock yarn scraps held double for the stripes.

Yarn Requirements for Hat:
MC - 80g (142 y / 130 m) Lion Brand Heartland
CC! - 6g (11 y / 10 m) Red Heart Soft
CC2 - 6g (11 y / 10 m) Red Heart Soft
CC3 - 6g (11 y / 10 m) Red Heart Soft
CC4 - 6g (11 y / 10 m) Red Heart Soft
CC5 - 6g (11 y / 10 m) Red Heart Soft

Yarn Requirements for Cowl:
MC - 100g (177 y / 162 m) Lion Brand Heartland Black Canyon
CC1 - 7g (13 y / 12 m) Red Heart Soft
CC2 - 7g (13 y / 12 m) Red Heart Soft
CC3 - 7g (13 y / 12 m) Red Heart Soft
CC4 - 7g (13 y / 12 m) Red Heart Soft
CC5 - 7g (13 y / 12 m) Red Heart Soft

I used an inexpensive acrylic for this hat. I love making colorwork hats for gifts and for kids – an easily washable yarn is perfect!

A coordinating pair of mittens would be lovely with this set. A simple mitten with a few colored strips to match the hat and cowl would be great!
