Vaahtera is a DK-weight lace beanie with slightly slouchy shape. Size modifications can be done based on gauge and yarn weight, see details below.

Finished measurements, to fit the head circumference of approx. 21-22(22.5-23.5)”/52-54(56-58)cm.
The sample in the photos is Woman size and knitted in Kettle Yarn Co. Beyul DK in colorway Steppe.

Size modifications:
You can also try size modifications that are based on gauge. Choose the gauge that corresponds to the desired size. You may have to use different yarn to achieve the correct gauge.
Size S: 22 sts & 28 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette with larger (US 6/4 mm) needles. Choose Sport-weight yarn. Use US 4 3.5 mm needles for the brim. Work with woman-sized number of sts.
Size M (woman, the sample size): 20 sts & 26 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch with larger (US 6/4 mm) needles. Use US 4 3.5 mm needles for the brim. Work with woman-sized number of sts.
Size L: 18 sts & 24 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette with larger (US 7/4,5 mm) needles. Use (US 6/4 mm) needles for the brim. Choose worsted weight yarn.

Gauge:
20 sts & 26 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch with larger (US 6/4 mm) needles

Choose DK-weight Yarn. Sample yarn: Kettle Yarn Co. Beyul DK (Merino, Baby Yak, Silk), 232 yds/212 m/100 grams/3.53 ounces, colorway Steppe. Yardage: 0.71 skeins = 151m meters (165 yards), 71 grams.
Needles:
US 4 3.5 mm 16”/40 cm & US 6 4 mm 16”/40 cm circular needle.
Larger size dpns for crown shaping if preferred.
Adjust the needle size to get the correct gauge.
