This really useful and stylish hat & cowl set would make a great project for beginner knitters. The simple stitch worked in 2 colours, gives a lovely reversible and stretchy fabric.

Both the hat and the cowl are worked on 3.75mm circular needles.
The hat comes in 2 adult sizes - to fit 51-56cm/20-22ins (58-61cm/23-24ins). The cowl comes in one size.

I used yarn that I already had - The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering wool, and The Yarn Collective Rivoli Sport - which gives a lovely soft drape to the knit, but any yarn with similar meterage will work.
