Valentine Wiggin
This shawl was an accidental tribute to a character in one of my favorite sci-fi book series (which is saying a lot). Originally given the working title “Night-blooming” after the concept of a bottom-up shawl consisting of a flowering border transitioning to the star-like yarnover decreases, it picked up the eponym as I was experimenting with Estonian lace. Hearts and stars in a delicate metallic? Who else was I going to name it after?
Size is going to be determined by the number of repeats at the bottom (multiple of 18 + 4), so plan accordingly. Be warned: my 52 x 22 inch triangular shawl used up almost an entire skein of the black yarn.
Gauge: pfft! What size do your 500-ish yard lace shawls usually turn out to be?
