Valerie
When the weather turns cold all you need is more layers. It is then when vest comes so handy. This cabled vest is a great piece to add on top of a blouse or a sweater for extra warmth.
The Yarn Collective Hudson Worsted used to knit ’Valerie’, a mix of merino and yak is a dream to work with and wears beautifully. It is warm and soft and has great drape, just fabulous! And it comes in lovely colours available from Love Knitting website.
’Valerie’ is knit bottom up in pretty cables on front and back with little granite stitch to add texture. Side slits and arm openings are finished with an i-cord and knit together with the body. The neckline has a loose mock turtleneck worked in the same half twisted ribbing as hems.
There are minimal shaping just a few to create cap sleeve. There is no seaming required apart from 3-needle bind off of the shoulders.
There are few short rows added to shape the shoulder slope, however, they can be omitted and instead casting off in steps can be used.
Pattern has written instructions, cables and textured stitch are written and charted.
