Vancouver Island is the rich and lush unceded territory of 50 distinct First Nations peoples of the Coast Salish, Nuu chah nulth and Kwakiutl tribal regions. Growing up on Vancouver Island was a magical time for my best friend Kim and myself, and we were truly blessed to grow up alongside each other on this land amidst diverse flora and fauna. One can wander the beach shore in the morning, hike in the rainforests in the afternoon, and stand atop a snowy mountain by the evening. When Kim announced the imminent arrival of her first born son, I wanted to celebrate by creating a blanket that evoked the landscape of our home and paid tribute to our history and our future of raising our children on this magical land. The Van Isle baby blanket is composed of a 3-colour linen stitch that is entirely customizable for you to incorporate a unique number of colours and transitions symbolic of your own special story. This is a soft yet sturdy fabric that is sure to be an heirloom that will provide comfort and accompany many adventures.

Yarn: Worsted weight wool (for babies I recommend superwash or exceptionally soft wool). Colours A & C: 150 g / 288 meters / 315 yards. Colour B: 185 g/ 356 meters/ 390 yards.

Specific Yarn Used in Sample: Malabrigo Rios in colours (A) Coco, (B) Tormenta, and (C) Yerba.

Needles: 6 mm / US size 10 circular needles with at least a 32” cord length.
