This garment is made from handspun yarn but any Aran or worsted weight will do. I recommend between 9-11 wpi for the best results. The needle size is large for the weight of yarn giving a more fluid garment, making it quick to knit and stretching your 100g of yarn further.
Gauge is not so important with this garment as it is a cowl. This pattern is very easily adapted for more yarn by adding a couple of knit rows at the beginning or end and in between cable rows, keep in mind doing this will change the height of the finished cowl.

If you have never cabled before this one is great for a beginner.
