Vanilla is both basic and essential. It can shine by itself or enhance other flavours in a dish. Similarly, a vanilla sock pattern is the most essential basic, ready to shine in its simplicity with tonal colours, or show off the most wild and complex variegated yarns. Whether you’re new to sock knitting, or are looking for a simple pattern to knit on vacation, the Vanilla Beans socks are ready for you.

The Vanilla Beans pattern is available for free on my blog.

Sizes
There are four sizes in the pattern: 1 (18cm foot circumference); 2 (20cm foot circumference); 3 (22.5cm foot circumference); and 4 (25cm foot circumference). Note that the sizes listed are measured around the sock, so find your size by measuring your foot and then subtracting 10%.

Yarn and Yardage
This pattern uses a fingering weight sock yarn, and needs approximately 220 - 320 yards. The simple stockinette of the Vanilla Beans socks make it well suited to tonal, speckled, or variegated colourways.

Notions
Needles (DPN’s or circulars), darning needle, stitch markers, and sock blockers if desired.

Techniques
The Vanilla Beans socks are knit cuff down, in the round, with a heel flap and gusset, and a wedge toe. This pattern is suitable for knitters who are at least slightly familiar with cuff down, in the round sock construction.
