These are my favorite toe-up vanilla socks! I have knit many socks to reach the perfect fit and ease for comfort, and now I’m sharing this pattern with all you lovely makers! This pattern is designed to be a forethought heel, meaning I have you add waste yarn at the point you want to insert the heel, but it also includes instructions for making a true afterthought heel. Extra Bits and Bobs like, how to add those little bows and patches, to make your socks extra unique and cute.

Foot circumference: 8 (7, 7.25, 9, 10)
Leg length: 8.5 inches to 10 inches
Foot length: adjustable to fit. Pattern already calculates a 10% negative ease for each standard foot circumference.
INCLUDES THE INCREASE MATH FOR CALF EXPANSION ON KNEE-HIGH LENGTH.

These vanilla socks include a gusset bit for the heel. If you have high arches or deep instep you will definitely want to create the gusset for a comfortable fit. If you have a short heel and tend to get sloshie socks in the heel you may want to do less gusset rows, or eliminate the gusset all together and just work the heel.

Full, easy to follow instructions for kitchener graft, bows, and embroidered embellishments (with instructions for how to do a sewn back stitch). Please note I do not currently offer instructions on how to embroider. This is just how to add a patch to your knitting. If you would like the embroidery picture for the Thing 1 and Thing 2 I can work something up as an add on to this pattern, but it depends on the amount of interest!

This pattern has it all!
