Vanilla Garter Socks
Vanilla Garter Socks are the perfect blend of simplicity and comfort, making them ideal for cozy nights in or lazy weekends.
This sideways design is worked flat, and finished off with an invisible graft for a seamless and tidy look. The pattern uses short rows to shape the toe and simple increases and decreases for the heel, offering a gentle, relaxed fit.
Designed to mimic the classic sock anatomy from a sideways perspective, these socks provide a familiar, comfortable structure with no complicated gussets or intricate elements. The result is a pair of warm, cozy socks that can be worn year-round, and are especially perfect for curling up with a good book at bedtime or relaxing at home.
With the gentle texture of garter stitch and a straightforward construction, these socks will quickly become your go-to project when you want to knit something satisfying, yet uncomplicated.

25sts x 24.5 ridges in 4in (10cm) in garter stitch, measured slightly stretched
The row gauge determines foot circ. and which size to select; you should aim for 24-29 ridges/ 4in (10cm).
The stitch gauge determines how many sts to cast on for your foot length. The number of sts is arbitrary for each size.

WASTE YARN
Waste yarn (WY) is used for a few provisional rows at the beginning and end of your knitting, the Start and End tabs. It is removed after grafting. To ease WY removal, it is best to use slippery, mercerised yarns. Using different contrasting colours will help you when grafting. WY weight should be similar to your main yarn.
SKILL LEVEL
This is a quick project, worked entirely in garter stitch, suitable for knitters of all levels. The sock construction and knitting techniques are demonstrated in the video tutorials.
