Vantage Point Cowl
The Vantage Point Cowl is a reversible cowl with beautiful texture on each side. There is flexibility in the pattern to make the cowl a single color, or use an additional color(s). The loose knit enables a button closure to fit through the knitting to create flexibility in the closure and how it can be worn.
With a single skein of super bulky yarn (approximately 90 yards or less), a lovely and versatile cowl can be made. In addition, simple modifications can be made to the pattern to further expand the possibilities. For example, by knitting additional length, a long scarf can be made or by casting on additional stitches, a wider wrap can be produced. A tubular edge is used on the sides and helps the cowl lay flat and gives a uniform edge to both sides.
Yarn - Super Bulky such as Malabrigo Rasta or Baah Mammoth
Needles - US 17 / 12mm
Yardage - approximately 90 yards for the three cowl options below, addition yarn is need to make a long scarf or extra tall cowl (approximately 180 yards).
Vantage Point Cowl Options:
- Original - cowl has two sections with different textures, can easily be done in two colors.
- Basic - cowl is done in one section, one color
- Custom - pattern includes customization suggestions and a detailed pattern for having a section with varied colors and mosaic stitches similar to my Hotdish Beanie
Finish:
Three options to finish the cowl are detailed: single button, double button, or a sewn edge creating a bandana style. The loose knit enables the buttons to attach anywhere so that the cowl can be adjusted to be more snug or loose as needed.
Additional Variations: Pattern is very adaptable to make variations
-
Long Scarf. Two skeins, approximately 180 yards of SB yarn will create a scarf that is approximately 6’ long
-
Extra Tall Cowl. Using two skeins and casting on additional stitches (27 or 31 sts are suggested) a larger cowl can be made, the extra drape and width can be extra cozy.
