No need to match gauge, choose your own yarn and the excel calculator will do all the counting~
say hello to Vara, this sleeveless crochet top (or crochet vest) is going to accompany you through the whole season! Manifesting to start working for your soon to be wardrobe staple right now~
She is bra friendly and she also has relaxed fit. Which means, she can be worn anywhere, for any occasion~
(check out vara’ older sister too, search : valli top #vallitop)
About this pattern:
• This is a made to measure pattern, it is equiped with excel calculator that will help you to count all the stitches (and row).
• Pattern is written in English with standard US terms.
• As I am a right-handed, this pattern is written with right-handed crocheters in mind, left-handed crocheters should crochet in different direction).
• This pattern is suitable for advanced beginner crocheters
• This crochet pattern works in rows
About this top:
• This sleeveless top has a relaxed fit
• This top looks best in cropped length (fall on your waistline).
p.s: I know some might say that my written pattern looks so intimidating because of the oh so many pages
and the supplementary excel spreadsheet. But don’t worry, this long pdf file means there are tons of
step by step picture and diagrams to help you get through it.
++ with the excel spreadsheet, you won’t need to do math, the excel will do it for you
(because I know, I am not the only one who hate math, and I am not the only one who are just too lazy to match gauge).
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A DIGITAL
CROCHET PATTERN AND TUTORIAL ONLY,
NOT A FINISHED ITEM / PRODUCT.
There will be NO physical item, product, material or tools to be send.
All the pattern and instruction is written in English, using standard US terms.
Materials & tools needed:
• #1 Fingering weight yarn / #2 Sport weight yarn / #3 DK weight yarn
• Respective crochet hook for any weight yarn that you choose and one size larger hook (one size larger means 3.00 mm and 3.50 mm, 4.00mm and 4.50 mm, etc).
Note: if your tension is on the tighter side and you are aiming for an airy top, would recommend you to size up your hook.
• Scissors
• Stitch markers
• Measuring tape / ruler
• One small button (less than 1 cm in diameter). This is optional, you can also choose tie up closing.
Yarn recommendation:
- Light weight yarn (fingering weight) will create more drape (it will create flowy and airy drape), DK weight yarn will create more structured top (more like a vest).
- Cotton yarn (100% cotton yarn, cotton blend, cotton bamboo) will create more crisp and defined texture. Acrylic blend yarn (such as 3 ply / 4 ply milk cotton yarn) will create puffier drape.
My testers (ranging from bust circumference 72 cm to 104 cm) used approximately: 360 m – 800 m
(it is highly depends on the yarn weight, bust size, and the top length. I put the detailed info on how much yarn does each testers used in the lookbook)
Yarn usage based on my measurement (bust 81 cm):
- Top height 35 cm with bottom lace trim, I used approximately 170 g / 490 m of #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn in forest green color, triple pulled with 2 strands of glittery thread.
- Top height 35 cm without bottom lace trim, I used approximately 150 g / 400 m of #3 DK weight acrylic blend yarn – 4ply milk cotton in orchid color. Note: if you used 100% pure cotton yarn, you have to double the weight measurement as it is heavier than cotton and acrylic blend.
Crochet hook reference:
- #1 fingering weight cotton blend yarn + 2 strands of glittery thread : 3.00 mm for FC & edging, 2.50 mm for everything else
- #3 DK weight acrylic blend yarn: 4.00 mm for FC & edging, 3.50 mm for everything else
