Våräng Shawl
Våräng is Swedish for spring meadow. This is an almost semi-circular shawl including i-cord edges, honeycomb brioche, garter and slip stitch stripes and a border with nifty cables and a decorative bind-off.
The inspiration for this shawl was watching the wind moving over a grass meadow in my favourite park here in Vienna, the flowers scattered all over the same meadow and how the different textures and colours of nature complement each other, something I find echoed in plant dyed yarn.
It is worked top-down using a smaller needle size for the honeycomb brioche. The gauge is not that important, but it is advisable to use a smaller needle size for the first section to compensate for the difference in gauge between the brioche and the rest of the stitch patterns.
