VARENNA FINGERLESS MITTENS | KNITTING PATTERN

Varenna are classic fingerless mittens in 2by2 rib stitch with subtle branching detail. It is worked from wrist up, tubular cast on and Italian bind off are used, that gives neat finish on both edges.

Sizes: S (M) L that fits a wrist circumference of approximately 12-13.5 (14-17) 17.5-20 cm or 4.8-5.4 (5.6-6.8) 7.2-8.0 inches.
Note: size S intended to fit a child’s wrist, M - woman’s wrist, L - man’s wrist.

Gauge: 42 sts x 36 rounds in 2by2 rib stitch on a 3 mm (US2.5) needles = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches)

Note: it is very important to match gauge for this pattern to get the right fit; strongly recommend to gauge swatch before starting.

Needles: 2.5 mm (US1.5) / 80 cm (32 inches) and 3 mm (US2.5) / 80 cm (32 inches) circular needles or double pointed needles.

Materials: recommended 50 (100) 100 g Double Sunday by Sandnes Garn (50 g = 108 m (118 yds))
! for size M you will need somewhere between 55 to 60 grams.

Note: yarn choice will highly affect fit of the mittens; recommend to choose high twist, springier yarn so mittens would retain their shape after stretching. Avoid superwash treated and plant based yarn, since it tends to stretch out.
