Variations Crochet Cowl
I was having a good rummage in my stash and found this yarn - Debbie Bliss Paloma (super bulky weight, 2 skeins, blue). I remember buying it some months ago just because it felt lovely and soft, a mix of baby alpaca and merino. It is just so soft it has to be a cowl. So hook in hand I started swatching and before long had devised a pattern I was happy with. Partway through the making, I realised that the stitch pattern could be varied quite easily and that although I was using a super bulky weight yarn it would look good in any weight. So multiple designs from one pattern – I love that, variations ….……..
As made in Paloma using a 10mm hook, the finished size is 65 cm (approx. 26 inches) around by 25 cm (approx. 10 inches) deep.
I made a second cowl in Mirasol Miski (worsted weight, 2 skeins, pinky brown) using the alternative stitch pattern, a 5.5mm hook and a different edge. And if I had enough necks I would make more!!!
Thanks to crobbles, muffetsmom and kirkland33 for all the testing.
