Varietee is a cowl with diagonally placed lace panels. It takes less than one hank of fingering weight yarn. Even if the chart looks complicated, the lace is very simple to knit.

You’ll need:

• Yarn: about 380 yd/350 m fingering weight yarn (appr. 465 yd/3.5 oz or 425 m/100 g). You can use whatever fingering weight yarn you desire but I recommend you to pick a yarn with no or moderate color variation (semi solids, tonals or speckled are ok!) for the lace panels to really show. You can knit your cowl shorter or longer than indicated in this pattern but keep in mind that the yardage given here is for the amount of repeats used for the sample cowl and instructed in the pattern. • Needles: size US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles or the size needles you’ll reach the gauge of 25 st/39 rows per 4 in (10 cm) with (worked with the lace pattern of chart 1). Right gauge is essential, so make sure you knit swatch first if you don’t want to take risks with the size of your cowl. Measurements of the cowl after blocking: circumference: 23 in (58 cm), height: 13 in (33 cm).
