These socks are dedicated to any time in your life where you ended up taking a different path than you originally expected, whether by choice or not. Sometimes taking a different course can bring unexpected benefits; you just have to choose to pivot and be open to the results.

Knitting can be like that too. You may have ideas about what you like and what you don’t, and then suddenly you choose to try a project that is completely different from the ones you usually knit… and then you end up liking it. Here our stripes take an unexpected turn, while also giving us some lacy details in these summer socks. A warmer, more wintery version is also described in the pattern.

These socks are mirrored.

Different options are given in the pattern: Holes or no holes, different manual striping options, as well as the option to use self-striping yarn for the stripes. Great for leftover self-striping!

Sizes: S (M, L) to fit 7 (8, 9)” or about 18 (20, 23) cm circumferences

Yarn:

Fingering weight yarn
MC: 35-40g
CC: 20-25g total. This may be split up over 6 colors as I have in my sample, or it can be a section of leftover self-striping yarn. Add or subtract color stripes to get your desired foot length.

Needles: US size 1 / 2.25mm

Notions: Stitch marker, tapestry needle

Gauge: 34 stitches and 46 rows to 4” (10cm) worked in stockinette stitch in the round.

Sample sock has a 9” (23cm) long foot, to fit a US women’s size 7 foot (9.25” long).
