veganuary egg
celebrate vegan-uary with a vegan egg
any colour you like!
it’s worked in one piece
short rows give the yolk its shape : no stuffing required
the “white” is worked outwards in the round
there’s a choice of 3 cast-off edges
i’ve used double knitting wool and 3.25mm needles (10uk / 3us)
but feel free to use thicker wool and bigger needles
i’ve used less than 3m (5g) d.k. wool for the yolk
and 20g for the white
i’ve used 7 double pointed needles,
but there’s no reason why you can’t use a circular needle ( add six markers for the increases )
i’ve added a stitch description at the end, but better ones are on-line
the bigger egg is worked on 6.5mm needles (3uk/10.5us) using 4 strands of dk held together. the yoke took 30g of wool, and the white 100g. it’s approx 16” (40cm) diameter.
