Materials

Plötulopi UnspunWool
This unique wool from Iceland is a bit like pencil roving in that it’s unspun.  It is light and airy with a long staple.  Used in a single-strand, this wool is wonderful for lace or sweaters. Work with 2 strands (same gauge as Lettlopi) for typical Icelandic pullovers, jackets, scarves, hats, and mittens. Or 3 and 4 strands for coats and blankets.
This wool is delicate because it’s unspun, but don’t let that put you off.  Carefully unwind your wool from the plate (never tug) to knit your stitches before unwinding the next lot.   Should your wool break, simply rub the two ends back together with a little water (or spit).  Once knitted, the yarn is strong yet soft!
