Description Veinticuatro means twenty four in Spanish. For those of you who may not know, Spanish is my second language, so I use the language a lot for inspiration. Veinticuatro seemed like such a perfect name for a 24 skein advent shawl! I’ve been designing this beautifully layered shawl in my mind for so long! I could see all 24 colors laid out in a simple and easy to wear design. I hope you love this shawl for this year’s advent and many years to come!

The Shape This is a thick crescent shape, that wears well in various ways to show off different aspects of the pattern. It’s easy to style and with the 5 size options, it’s also simple to customize it and make the size you want.

These sizes are not exact, especially as you get to the Large + sizes since it depends on your gauge and how much yarn you decided to use and when you wanted to bind off.

Advent Knitting
Knitting the shawl is intended to be accomplished within the month of December. So if you’re knitting the small size, you will want to knit 1-2 section per day, which took me less than an hour each day. If you knit the Medium-Large Size you’ll want to knit 2-3 sections per day. As those rows get longer, it took me about 2 hours of knitting/day intended to be accomplished within the month on December. So after each size, you can absolutely bind off! All sections after the Small Size are optional, depending on how much yarn you have and how big of a shawl you’d like!

THE YARN
This was designed with a 24 mini skein advent in mind, but you really can do so much with this pattern! The pattern’s gauge is a dk weight, so you can use 24 mini skeins of DK weight OR 24 mini skeins of fingering weight held double.

Keep in mind, that our mini skeins have more yardage than most 20g mini skeins out in the indie dyed world. If you’re putting together your own kit, please keep this in mind.

Within the pattern it gives SO MUCH guidance on yardage for each section/size. And options on colors/yarn/MC/CC etc.

GAUGE

Yes! Gauge matters! All the yardage is based on gauge, so check your gauge as you’re knitting it to make sure you can easily finish each section. If you are worried about yarn, go down by 1 needle size.
