Velma Cowl
Hook size: 5.0mm (H)
Gauge: Not important
Materials: Medium weight yarn (I used Lion Brand Heartland in Grand Canyon for the main color and Red Heart Unforgettable Tealberry for accents), stitch markers, tapestry needle, large buttons ( I used 1” coconut shell buttons)
Stitches used: Single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc)
I designed this cowl for my grandma and named the pattern after her. A year ago, I picked up this Unforgettable yarn to make her a shawl. It had the beige and rose colors she loved and teal tones I loved. The shawl just seemed too vibrant. I packed it away and never finished it. This year I started making my grandma a simple beige cowl and then decided I need to incorporate the yarn I picked for her. I had been looking at the yarn for a year. Even though the shawl didn’t work out, this was exclusively her yarn to me. It’s still a little colorful, but I think I found a good balance. Sharing this pattern with everyone is part of her gift. I hope you enjoy it!
