Verba is a name of willow tree in ukrainian.
Originally, shoulders and side details for this top was inspired by the sweater Taylor S. worn on super bowl this year. And her song “willow” was one of the favorite in my playlist for years. So all these coincidences: the shoulder and side details, the song, the name and bright reddish orange color I had in my stash - just perfectly met jogether in Verba top design.
Hope you enjoy knitting this top as much as I do!

Verba top is a classic V-neck summer top.
It’s designed with an interesting combination of stockinette stitch and modified half-fisherman ribbing along all edges. For this top you can use your favorite summer yarn (like cotton or linen), silk yarn or any summer blends of yarn.
Verba top is great for in-city or vacay summer outfits. It pairs perfectly with skirts or linen pants and shorts.

Verba top is worked top down and seamlessly. You started work with back yoke, shaped shoulder with increases in every row and continued working in rows to the underarms. Once the back yoke is ready, left and right front shoulders are casted on separately and V-neck is shaped with increases. When the V-neck is ready, both fronts are joined together and continue working to the underarms. After, back and front yokes are joined and worked in the round to the hem. Last touches– finish neckline and armholes with i-cord edges for a more polished look.
