This hat is knit in the round with two different yarn weights and two needle sizes.

This pattern requires one to download the Verdigris fingerless mitten pattern by Rosemary Hill in the Summer 2009 Issue of Knitty.

It is meant to use leftover yarn from that project for the brim, and add a light-worsted weight yarn for the rest of the hat.
