Vernal Strata Cowl
Strata (noun): a layer or a series of layers of rock in the ground.
Vernal Utah is famous for rich deposits of fossils revealed in rocky layers. There is even a museum built around an actual cliff-side of fossils. You can see layer upon layer of sediment revealing a history of plant and animal life going back millennia.
This cowl reveals your own layers of colors. It uses one full skein and set of five mini skeins, striped together for a beautiful effect. It starts with a provisional cast on and is knit side to side then grafted together for a seamless finish.
Measurements - 34 in/ 86 cm circumference by 15 in/ 38 cm deep.
Yarn: MC - 400yds/ 365m to 100 grams of fingering weight yarn. CC1 through CC5 using five 20 gram mini skeins of fingering weight yarn. I used Candy Shoppe Yarns Simple Syrup base with MC - Creme Soda, and CCs with Cinnamon Spice and Everything Nice minis set.
Needles: Two sets of US 4/3.5mm circular needle with 24 inch /60cm cable. Alternately you can use a smaller set of needles for your second set. This will be used during the grafting process.
