One way to keep Stubby from
making off with your pots is to just
take them to the table, buffet-style!
This potholder will help protect (or
“vernda” in Icelandic) your table
from your hot dishes.

Knitting the front and the back in
the round means you’re working
both sides simultaneously. Once
you’ve completed the motif for front
and back, you will fold your work
in half, sliding your circular needle
to create a U, then use a 3 needle
bind off technique to close up the
open end.

Charts come with permission (and
actually encouragement) from
Ornaments and Patterns found
in Iceland, put together by The
Icelandic Handcraft Association.
This book is an amazing work
of art and true labor of love to
preserve and showcase Icelandic
colorwork motifs. It’s a treasured
part of Kirstin’s knitting library
and is highly recommended as an
addition to any knitting library.
