Vernissage
Spring is here, nature is in full bloom - every morning I go out it is like visiting a vernissage; new flowers and leaves have sprung out during the night. It is all there for us to admire and enjoy. As the winters are long and grey in my part of the world I tend to forget how intense and magnificient it is to enter the scene of spring every year.
It is also a great joy leaving winter garments behind - and finally being able to wear something light!! With its moss-stich pattern for the fronts and adorable lace bordering the V-neck, center of the front and the slightlys scalloped bottom of the top Vernissage will become a true favorite the following months!
Construction: Vernissage is worked top-down starting with the fronts with integrated lace-borders. From armpits work is continued in-the-round. The body has shapings from bust downwards to make a fitted and flattering shape. There are no seams and finishing work is very limited.
Sizes You could either work the top to a gauge of 25 or 26 sts to 10cm/4” depending on your bust-measurements.
Finished bust-measurements to gauge 25 are: 30/32/34/37/40/42/45/47”
Finished bust-measurements to gauge 26 are: 28/31/33/36/38/41/43/46
Material I worked the top in a mercerized cotton, “Catania” from Schachenmayr. This cotton comes in balls of 50gr/1.75oz and 125m/137yards. You need 5/5/6/6/7/8/9 balls to work the top.
The pattern The pattern contains a chart for the lace, measurements in both cm and inches as well as a stichcounter.
