Versatile Victorian Lattice
This ‘4-projects-in-1-pattern’ takes Destany Wymore’s “Victorian Lattice Square” to a whole new level, and beyond!
• It moves the obvious ‘faux treble’ stitch at the beginning of a round to a corner where it is less visible, and does not interrupt the ‘flow’ of the treble stitch pattern groups up one side of the square.
• The pattern can be used to make a small ‘afghan’ square, similar to that of Destany’s pattern, worked many times, with the squares then joined together to make a large blanket.
• It also allows the small crochet square to be expanded to form a one-piece square blanket of any size of your choice, with the lattice pattern repeated around the four sides. Imagine how beautiful this would look if worked in soft, white 4-ply and used as a large christening wrap which could even become a family heirloom!
• Not only that – it allows a rectangular blanket to be made by working in rows rather than rounds.
• AND – it can make up to produce a fashionable casual bag from 2 squares of the rectangular blanket.
Materials:
4.50 mm hook with Double Knit yam = US Worsted Weight yarn. Illustrations use “Sewing Solutions” polyester double knit yarn. The amount used depends on the size of the item you are making. The large square blanket illustrated took 5 balls of yarn. The rectangular blanket illustrated took 2 balls of yarn.
