Vertical Striped Short Sleeve Top
The Vertical Stripes Short Sleeve Top is a wonderful melange of incredible colors and textures, and it’s so easy to knit! It’s worked sideways from cuff to cuff in narrow stripes to produce a very flattering effect. The only sewing is the side and underarm seams!
Change yarns every 2 to 6 rows randomly - and don’t even worry about matching left to right! The cuffs are knit as part of the body and the waistband and neckband are picked up and knit in ribbing after the seaming is done.
Knitting from side to side is a great way to use those wonderful self-striping yarns, too. And always very flattering, to any figure.
I designed this top and wrote the pattern for worsted weight yarn, although using a variety of thicknesses works very well.
Gauge is 4.5 sts per inch on US Size 7 (4.5mm) needles in stockinette stitch. There are 3 sizes, 40”, 44” and 48”, although I included details for making the garment in whatever size and length you desire.
My Patterns (Trish Designs) are always innovative, unique and fun to do. They are expertly written in an easy-to-follow manner with step-by-step instructions. They include color pictures, schematics with all pertinent measurements, charts where applicable and written row-by-row stitch pattern instructions.
Most of the patterns are written generically with specific information as to the yarns used in the model. Others are written for specific yarns. All the patterns include complete materials information, including all yardage requirements and yarn types, making it easy to substitute any yarn. They also include any special techniques used in the construction of the design.
And I am always happy to help with any knitting questions.
I also have kits made up for this pattern. Check them out on my website.
