Made in one piece, this garter stitch waistcoat demands no purling and little more than the ability to count a bit. Aside from joining the shoulders, there’s no seaming; tacking down the buttons is as complicated as the rest of it gets. And yet the look is so right for kids. To us it looks like formal hobbit child clothing, and seems made for serious play. The size range is wide (for ages 2 - 12) and generously scaled. The lapels add a bit of playful elaboration. We don’t know why it’s rated ‘intermediate’ in the pattern itself-- don’t be scared-- it’s simple fun. Gauge given is over garter stitch.
