This vest gives a lot of options for stash busting and using colors. The pieces are knit separately in color blocks and then joined with a simple crochet stitch. I decided to show the seams on the outside and used a different color for that yarn as well.

The construction of the collar gives the vest a little zip too: in the front it is a funnel construction; in the back it is a ribbing that is knit from left and right to the middle of the neck, where I joined it on the right side with a 3 needle bind-off.
The same contrasting color I used for the back of the neck is also peaking out of the pockets.

And then of course there is also the option of doing none of the above and instead knitting a monochrome, classic vest.
