Vesta is a half-circle shawl, knit top-down in 4 sections with DK yarn in two different colors. It is named after the Roman goddess of wreath, home and family. The idea of this shawl was born during the Covid-19 lockdown when we were forced to stay indoors, in the safety of our houses. The lockdown made me think of home, its meaning and all the positive feelings it brings: security during difficult times and warmth during harsh winters. I wanted to create a piece that will make women feel safe, warm and comfortable while wearing it and this is how Vesta Shawl was born.

This design was created in collaboration with Lanivendole, an independent Italian company that produces ethically sourced and traceable yarn.

Size: one size; measurements after blocking: approx. 160 cm/ 63” wide, 68 cm/ 27” long;

Gauge: 17 sts and 26 rows = 10 cm/ 4” in Stockinette Stitch, measured flat after blocking; gauge is not crucial for this project but it will affect the size and the yardage; make sure you have enough yarn to finish your project;

Yarn: A Stormy Blend Woolen DK 70% Brogna Wool, 30% Alpaca; 220 meters (241 yards)/100g (3.53 oz): 2 skeins in CC1 and 4 skeins in CC2. The sample was knit in Rame (CC1) and Luce (CC2) colorways.
Or: approx. 410 m/ 448 yards in CC1 and approx. 720 m/ 787 yards in CC2 of DK yarn;

Needles: 4.5 mm/ US7 circular needles with sharp tips 80-100 cm/ 32-40” long or needle size to obtain the gauge;

Other: tapestry needle to weave in ends, 2 stitch markers, crochet hook (optional);
