Feathers are treated as treasures in our household; for us they epitomise freedom and exploration. As we find them we often wonder where they have travelled, what countries they have visited and what adventures they’ve had.

Vexillum is an elongated triangle shawl that utilises a lace motif, reminiscent of the pattern created by feather vanes, to create the spine increases. This is juxtaposed against stocking stitch and blocks of garter stitch stripes.

The feather vane spine stitch pattern is replicated on the ever-growing and gently curving wings of this shawl to create a lightweight and functional beauty. This is a shawl of escapism, freedom and exploration; flyaway yet comforting.

Construction:
Vexillum is knit in one piece from the top down beginning with a garter tab. Simple yarn over increases are used to increase the size of the shawl.

This shawl is designed to use those smaller precious 50g lots of yarn

Both written and charted instructions are included for the lace insert.

One size.
Approximately 72 inches/183 cms from tip to tip and 19 inches/48.5 cms.
