Vianne
This cardigan features a fun set of mirrored lace panels that run along the front neckline and frame a large mesh panel on the back. The natural bias of the mesh stitch pattern causes the back neckline to dip down slightly and creates an attractive curve out at the waist. Vianne is knit using DK weight yarn at a loose gauge to create a lighter weight fabric and is worked seamlessly from the top down.
The upper back is started first and then placed on hold. Next, the beginnings of the left and right fronts are knit. The fronts and back are joined together when the underarms are cast on, and the rest of the body is knit down from there with waist shaping. Once the body is done, stitches are picked up around the armhole, and the sleeve caps are knit seamlessly using short rows for shaping.
Vianne fits best with 0-3 inches of negative ease. The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the lace panels.
