Victorian CAL Cloth 1
This is the first Victorian Mystery CAL Cloth!
If you purchase the pattern before January 1/2015 the pattern will be automatically updated with the instructions on January 1st at about 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
The Victorian CAL Cloth 1 will be 50% off the regular low price of $1.95 for 1 full week--right up until midnight Pacific Time, January 7th/2015. (Every month, the new CAL Cloth will also be 50% off for a week.)
My crocheted and knitted cloths based on Victorian era stitch patterns are so popular I thought it would be fun to add some Mystery to the new designs as they come out! There is only 1 “clue” to this mystery--but until you make it you will not know what it looks like, that is the Mystery! To keep it a mystery, there are no photos of my cloth! But please join the West Coast Fibre Arts Group on Ravelry, where there are “Spoiler Photos” threads for each Mystery Cloth, in which I will post “how-to” photos or tutorial collages and where you can post your own photos and comments. Please ask for help if something isn’t clear, or let me know if you find an error.
This cloth is 9 inches square, and uses a full ball of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Solids worked with a 5mm hook. You can adjust the size by starting with more or fewer chain stitches in multiples of 3. The cloth uses a stitch pattern from 1889, and is an easy-to-remember 2-row sequence that makes a great project to take along to work on in waiting rooms--or even finish a row while commercials run during your favourite TV show!
Once you learn this stitch, you can use it to make other items--scarves, cowls, and more! I am making a cowl and will post photos in the West Coast Fibre Arts Group “Victorian CAL Cloth 1 Spoilers” thread when it is finished.
At the beginning of each month the Victorian CAL Cloth will feature a new stitch pattern I find in Victorian era magazines and books.
