Viera
Viera - is a top-down crescent-shaped shawl, that combines all of my favorite stitches and techniques: mindless garter stitch, engaging mosaic knitting, and delicate eyelets. The bottom edge is adorned with picots.
The size is easy to adjust by working more or fewer rows in garter stitch. The pattern can be worked from written instructions or charts.
Yarn: Miss Babs Tarte (75% Superwash Merino, 15% Nylon, 10% Tencel, 500 yd /122g)
-
MC - 1 skein of Frogbelly
-
CC - 1 skein of Moss
Or any similar fingering weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors, MC -approx. 390 yard, CC - approx. 370 yards
Needles: US #4 / 3.5 mm circular needles (or as required to get the gauge)
Notions: darning needle, markers
Gauge: 21 sts x 42 rows = 4” in garter stitch. Gauge is not crucial for this project, but will affect yardage and finished size if different from above.
Sample size: wingspan 84”, depth 16” (wet blocked)
Instructions are available in two formats:
compact (4 pages, 12 pt)
large print (8 pages, 20 pt), the version with big letters for those who use portable devices like tablets and e-readers; also for those knitters who have difficulties reading small font on paper.
If you want bigger charts, you can print them as a poster (in Acrobat: tile scale 125% with 1” overlap will spread each page on 2 sheets of paper, the equivalent of 17”x 11”).
