Pattern Notes

Yumi’s Knitted Postcard is worked as a tube in the round without a steek. Stitches are cast on and bound off using your preferred method. The front and back of the postcard are worked following the charts provided. On completion of the stranded colourwork, loose ends are firmly knotted inside the tube, which is then pressed flat to make a rectangular postcard shape with a “front” and a “back”.

There is no need to weave in ends as they are concealed inside the tube. The top and bottom of the postcard are then closed with a simple but decorative embroidered knotted buttonhole stitch (see the tutorial here).

Gauge & Needles

31 sts/36 rounds to 10cm/4” over colourwork pattern using gauge-size dpns or your preferred length of circular needle(s) for working small-diameter projects in the round. Sample knit with 2.75mm (UK 12/US2) needles. Work and block a swatch in the round or make a single postcard as your gauge swatch.

1. 1 stitch marker Sharp scissors
2. 0.5g/2.5m of yarn for working embroidered edging (sample uses
   Jamieson & Smith 2 ply Jumper Weight Shade 72 - Heathery Pink)
3. Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and working knotted buttonhole stitch
