Vigilante Mask
By popular demand, I give you…the Vigilante Mask!
This is the most cuddly superhero mask you will have ever worn, I can tell you that much. Use it to fight crime, or just to keep your face warm, like I do.
This pattern is not for the faint-hearted. It’s deceptively complex. You’ll need to be pretty good at knitting and keeping track…terms include CDD, M1L, M1R, M1PL, and M1PR. You’ll also have to do Kitchener stitch and a 3-needle bind off.
Because it’s complex, I worked hard with a tech editor to make it as understandable as possible. I also have schematics, an illustration, and photos to help you along. I tried very hard to avoid mistakes, but if you find one, please let me know.
You can either do this in one color or two--in the photos you’ll see an early prototype I made for my nephew in black (Malabrigo Rios, color Pearl Ten).
You’ll want DK or Worsted weight yarn. It should be structural and soft enough for your face, but not so fuzzy that the fibers will get into your eyes. I recommend Lion Brand Jeans Yarn.
Other supplies: Tapestry needle, 7 stitch markers, button for neck closure
