Viking Girl Hat
I’ve revamped and re-released this pattern though my own Ravelry store, after having the rights generously returned to me. Yarn recommendations have been updated to include colorway recommendations for Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, the yarn used for the new sample pictured on the front of the pattern; this yarn has wide commercial availability and multiple color offerings that work for this design -- hence the update.
Sized for infants through adults, the pattern includes instructions for both the “Viking” and “Brunhilde” variations. For those interested in minimizing the amount of paper and printer ink used, note the following:
- Page 1 is a cover page with no instructional content;
- Page 2 contains project details useful for reference when purchasing yarns and assembling notions, but not necessary during the actual knitting process.
- Pages 3-5 are the pages containing the actual knitting instructions (both versions, all sizes)
- Page 6 is a humorous commentary, “Is Your Baby a Viking? The Truth May Surprise You!” provided for those who plan to give the hat as a baby gift.
Yarn requirements: 1 (1, 1, 2, 2, 2) balls Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, or approximately 100-200 yards of main color yarn in a similar weight, plus small amounts of yarn for wings/braids/horns/brim, depending on the pattern options you choose.
