Recommend using 100% wool yarn; You should be familiar with Fair Isle knitting (I don’t go over the stranding techniques in the pattern. If you need help with Fair Isle, I have a free pattern for a mini heart mitten also on Ravelry that has more pictures and explanation).

Gauge:
10 sts wide x 6 rows high should measure ~2.5” x 1.5”

This cowl scarf is knitted in the round in the Fair Isle technique. It starts with a Latvian (two-color) cast-on and it is finished with crocheted edges.

It is more of a “collar” style cowl, and meant to be able to pull it up on your face (if needed). I made this for my father for his birthday; he said when he uses the snowblower, it kicks back so much snow that it gets in his face and down his neck so the cowl scarf will be perfect for fixing that.

Finished measurements (after washing, laying flat): 12” wide x 13” long (non-doubled).
