Viking Ships
This is a sweater designed with the beautiful plant-dyed Scottish lambswool (approx. 710 yards / 650m per 3.53 ounces / 100g) from the ladies at g-uld.dk. You can find other natural dyed yarn on Ravelry or try to dye your own. You can of course use commercially dyed yarn too.
This free version of the pattern is based on the prototype and is a size 4 years - perfect for my daughter. I am planning to re-calculate it for other kids sizes to sell.
Finished measurements: (after blocking) circumference: 61,5 cm / 24.25 inches, length: 34.5 cm / 13.5 inches.
Yarn: 2 threads of a Lace/2-ply or Light Fingering/3-ply (approx. 710 yards / 650m per 3.53 ounces / 100g) 100% wool yarn in four colours.
Altogether approx. 9.53 ounces / 270g or 1920 yards / 1750m yarn) divided into:
Colour A: 3.53 ounces / 100g yellow, preferably plant-dyed with Tansy
Colour B: 3.53 ounces / 100g brown, preferably plant-dyed with Walnut
Colour C: 1.41 ounces / 40g red, preferably plant-dyes with Madder
Colour D: 1.06 ounces / 30g blue, preferably plant-dyed with Indigo
If you wish to use a thicker yarn as 1 thread instead you can do so - just make sure you get a gauge of 18 stitches x 28 rows in a 4 inch / 10 cm square.
Needles: 4mm / US 6 circular needles, 150 cm / 60 inches
Notions: 2 stitch holders, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, blocking wire/pins, 1 stitch marker.
Gauge: In stockinette stitch 18 stitches and 28 rows after blocking.
As always, let me know if you are interested in translating the pattern.
