Villmark (wilderness) is the winter landscape of my childhood; dark spruces, snow falling silently from a light-blue sky, mountain ranges at a distance. Hope to go there next year:)

Size
The hat is one-size.
The circumference of the hat is 46 cm/18”.
The height of the hat, from cast-on to the top of crown is 22 cm/9”. This size is convenient for an adult head of 52 - 57 cm/20 - 22”.
If you want a larger hat you should work at a looser gauge.
If you want a smaller hat you should work at a tighter gauge.
Height of hat might be adjusted by working a broader brim.

Gauge
19 sts and 26 rounds = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”, worked in stockinette and stranded pattern.

Construction
The hat is worked bottom-up and in-the-round.

Materials
Yarn: I used Jamiesons ”Shetland Heather”, to work the hat.
This aran weight yarn comes in balls of 50gr/1.76oz and 92 m/101yards.
I used 5 colours to work the hat: CC1: North Sea, CC2: Eesit, CC3: Sholmit, CC4: Conifer, CC5: Horizon
I used less than half a ball of CC1, CC3 and CC4, and only tiny amounts of CC2 and CC5.
You can use a similar yarn that knits up to gauge.
Needles: For the ribbed brim you need a circular needle, 40 cm/16” (or larger, if working the magic loop),
size 3.5 mm/US4, for the main-body of the hat you need a circular needle 40 cm/16” (or larger, if working the
magic loop), size 4.5 mm/US7. A set of dpns 4.5 mm/US7 for the shaping of the crown.
Notions: 1 removable stitch-marker.
Or, if you want to place markers between each pattern-repeat:
5 removable stitch-markers (make sure that the beginning of the round marker is different from the others).
Blunt tapestry needle. Blocking tools.

The pattern
Measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches.
All necessary stitch-counts are given.
The pattern is charted from the first round until the top of the crown (including the shaping of the crown).

Knitting skills: intermediate.
