This pattern was developed after I received a Christmas request from my dad for a slouchy hat in deep blue with flashes of color like Van Gogh’s Starry Night. The short stretches of color were inspired by impressionist brush strokes.

While the colorwork looks like it could be complicated, only two colors of yarn are worked on any give row. The accent colors are an excellent way to use up smaller balls of yarn. The short chart repeats make it very easy to customize the hat’s size.
