Vinci Hat
Skill level: Beginner
Inspiration
All my patterns have geographical names and this time I want to honor one of the most amazing people in history - Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo was the out-of-wedlock son of a Florentine legal notary and he got his last name after the place where he was born. - a small town Vinci in Toscany. When I was figuring out this pattern I was constantly thinking about his drawing Vitruvian Man.
About the pattern
This hat is beginner friendly. Simple, minimalist and gender neutral piece with spectacular crown decreases - just perfect addition to your winter wardrobe. Easy enough to work your way through without problems and interesting enough to caught attention when it’s finished.
Yarn
Pattern is designed to use up the whole 50 g yarn ball and knits up with almost no leftovers, so be sure you check the gauge if you are limited by the yardage in one skein. This is perfect pattern for all those single skeins in your stash or for larger leftovers.
For yarn substitution choose yarns with high wool content, non-superwash if possible.
For the sample I used up the whole skein of Pickles Mjuk Merino in colorway Petrol with almost no leftovers - I had less than 3g after closing crown stitches. Not even enough for a pompom.
Sizing
One size
about 45 cm / 17.5 inches in circumference
about 20 cm / 8 inches in height.
A lot of ribbing around the head causes a lot of stretch, so one size fits most adults.
