Vine Lace and Leaf panel scarf
Lacy scarf featuring a central Vine Lace panel with a Leaf panel at each side and scalloped ends.
The scarf in the photograph measures approximately 7” wide x 66” long and was hand-knitted using 2 x 50gm balls of Rowan Felted Tweed DK, which is 50% wool, 25% alpaca and 25% viscose. The colour is a dusky denim blue with tweedy knops in tan, blue and white. It could, of course, be knitted in any other DK yarn.
The scarf was knitted in two pieces and grafted together at the centre, forming a flat invisible seam. This means that the pattern on each piece is the same way up and the scallop pattern at the cast-on edges is the same. It could be knitted in one piece, meaning that the pattern would be upside-down on one side and the scallop pattern at the cast-off edge would differ to that at the cast-on edge.
As this lovely lacy scarf was made in double knitting wool, it did not take very long to knit. It could be made in other thicknesses by adjusting the number of pattern panels - i.e. if using 4ply, extra panels in the leaf pattern could be added at the sides or the vine panel could be widened, etc. The possibilities are endless!
