Vine Pullover
The Vine Pullover is constructed seamlessly in the round, from the top down. The cable design is a simple 3/3 Left Cross cable (also known as Cable 6 Front) repeated every 6th row. The sweater is cast on at the neck ribbing. Infant sizes may utilize a provisional cast on and complete the neck ribbing last for a more elastic neckline. Optional intermediate-level short rows are included to ensure a better fit in the neck and shoulders.
This sweater is an excellent choice for a first sweater, or to learn to cable. Beginners should skip the short row shaping until they are familiar with raglan sweater knitting.
The pattern features extensive video tutorials. Purchase includes a low vision copy of the pattern with 22pt San Serif font.
Sizing: Preemie (Newborn, 3 months, 6 months) {9 months, 12-18 months, 2t} 4t, 6 years, 8 yearsears, 12 years, 14 years, 16 years)
Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rounds in 4” (10.2cm) with larger needles in stockinette stitch.
Yardage: 185 (240, 275, 310) {330, 365, 415} 480, 575, 67005, 855, 915) yards, or 170 (225, 255, 285) {305, 335, 380} 440, 530, 61540, 785, 840) meters of worsted weight yarn. Any deviation from gauge will impact the amount of yarn required.
Yarn suggestions: Malabrigo Rios, Plymouth Selects Merino Worsted, Cascade 220 Merino. The best yarns to use will be stretchy worsted weight yarns of around 220yards/200m per 100g.
Suggested needle sizes: US6 (4.00mm) and US4 (3.50mm), or size needed to meet specified gauge, in 16”-40” (40.5-102cm) circular needles.
The neck and sleeves will require DPNs or a 32”+ (81cm+) circular needle for the magic loop method. The smallest sizes may require use of these for the entire project.
Notions:
8 stitch markers—one to mark beginning of round, three more for raglan increase sections, and four to mark cable panels.

Errata (does not apply to the 9/2024 2.0 version): Following the 9/27/2023 sleeve update, I failed to delete a set of the old instructions. Step One of the sleeve working rounds should onlyread as follows: “Step 1: Knit 27 (17, 13, 11, 13, 16, 12, 13, 15, 14) row(s) in pattern.”
