Vine Trellis Afghan
This beautiful Afghan is knitted as separate squares, then joined when you have reached the size required. Knitting in this way is so convenient - you can knit as many squares as you wish, also take your knitting with you when you are on the go! It’s up to you!
I have knitted my sample using undyed organic Aran weight wool, which I discovered in a farmers’ market. Choose any yarn composition, colour and weight you love! You don’t need to follow a particular gauge. Your size of blanket depends on your knitting tension, chosen yarn weight, size of needles and number of knitted squares.
Drops Alaska is very similar yarn to the yarn I used.
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
• 950 g using off white colour Aran weight yarn (heavy worsted).
• 2 Straight or circular needles - 5 mm (US 8).
• 1 Crochet hook - 4 mm (US G).
• 1 Cable needle.
• 1 Tapestry needle.
MEASUREMENTS AFTER BLOCKING:
Each Square size: approx. 34 x 34 cm / (13 ½ x 13 ½ ins).
Afghan size: 136 (width) x 102 (length) cm / (53 ½ x 40 ins). Your size depends on your gauge and chosen yarn weight.
GAUGE (tension): 16 sts and 20 rows = 10 cm (4”) measured over stockinette st, blanket being blocked, using 5.00 mm (US 8) needle. NB Gauge is not crucial for this pattern.
