Vintage fancy poncho
Was inspired by lace stitches (called “fancy” stitches) used in the late 19th century and will bring a touch of glamour in your wardrobe. Fear not, this can be dressed up or down depending on your mood or occasion.

Most ponchos are OSFA (one size fits all)

S/M –is probably the OSFA
And a very generous size L/XL (in parenthesis)

However the size can be adjusted through increasing/decreasing – multiple of 4 (the easy lace is a multiple of 4) and working more or less repeats of the chart 1 to achieve the desired length of a rectangle that you will fold in half.

Original yarn: Skeinz Southlander 5ply
Aurora 100 Mohair lace (approx 500-600m of each), worked double stranded together

Alternatives: Cascade Alpaca Lace
Skeinz Mohair 2ply (approx. 500-600m of each), worked together

Be adventurous and try other 3 to 5 ply yarns combined with beautiful fine mohair.

Size 7mm needles, for alternative yarn you might want to try 6-6.5mm

Gauge – is not important as long as you are happy with the texture but could affect the yardage and the size.

Level: any adventurous beginner who wants to try lace - to experienced knitter. Please note: The vine lace requires more concentration.
